Abena Tiwaa, a young street vendor, said that men who talk to her think that selling chewing gum is just a front for her "real business," and some of them even try to get with her.
During a talk with DJ Nyaami on Daily Hustle, Abena said that guys often tell her she's beautiful and to stop selling. They tell Abena that she should trade her body for money instead, but the young girl wants to earn it.
"Just before I met you (DJ Nyaami), I met a guy. He asked me if this was all I did for work and asked for my contact information. I told him I didn't have a phone. Some people also tell me to stop selling this and instead offer GHS500 for sex.
I can't do that because prostitutes are the only ones who can. I'm not a scrooge. I'm fine because when I sell the gum, I make GHS15. I earn enough money to buy food. She said, "As long as I don't have to steal."
Abena Tiwaa also said she would rather work than depend on men, even in a relationship, because she thinks most men just want sex and not a relationship.
"They will lie to me and say they will take care of me, but after we have sex, they will avoid me. Why not work and make money instead of relying on a man? So, I don't want to date right now."
