Olivia Serwaa, a Ghanaian living in France, has opened up about her marriage and how her divorce left her emotionally damaged and forced her to leave her marital home.
Olivia revealed that she was married while living in Ghana but the marriage ended painfully because of the way she was treated. She made the revelation in an interview with Daily Hustle Worldwide. Olivia said that despite his 'Christian' attitude, he abused her and she had to flee her home.
Olivia said her ex-husband tortured her emotionally rather than physically. "You know, it's all fun and games when you're dating someone, but after we got married, everything changed," she added. So when I found out what he was like, I was stunned. The abuse was excessive - emotional abuse - for a man who said he loved me.
Olivia claimed she had doubts about her ex's 'good husband's boy' mentality. But because he was a Christian, her mother convinced her that he must be God.
"My mother persuaded me to marry him. He assured me that he wanted to stay with me when I questioned his motives. We even vowed to remain virgins until we were married. So I trusted him. I had to leave our house before I could finally get a divorce. Because I had never experienced this before, it affected my emotional state," Olivia continues.
