A campus girl talked about how hard it is for rich female students, saying that most of them date older men to pay for their expensive lifestyles and not to ruin their reputations.
Diana "not her real name" has said that she started dating older men after seeing how her friends were living easy lives and driving nice cars paid for by older men, most of whom they dated privately. This made her want to try it for herself.
Diana told the reporters that at first she tried to avoid her Lecturer, but after he tried to get close to her, she gave in.
I had seen how some of these men kept their "babies," and since the man was always telling me how much he wanted me, I decided to accept his offer. She says, "He used to give me Ksh. 50,000 every time I went to see him."
I did this until I found out that he was also sleeping with other girls and wasn't protecting himself. I then left him. She also said, "I grew up and did all of that in my first year of college."
Kenyans who responded to her story on social media have asked the National Police Service and the directorate of criminal investigations to take over her case.
Most Kenyans who were interviewed said that it is sad that these kinds of cases are often assumed, even though they might be happening right now.
The National Police Service should look into these claims for sure. I don't know why they haven't done this yet, even though more and more students are telling the same stories.
