Rabi Salifu, who is the Deputy Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), says that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is to blame for the currency's free fall.
She said that the NDC paid some TikTok influencers to make people worry about the strength of the cedi when there was no reason to.
''The NDC went to get few people to stage them, to say come out and throw fear in the system, they came out to say by December dollar was going to be GHC25 which is not happening.''
Rabi said they caused fear and panic among the business community that triggered them to run and exchange their cedis for dollars to keep the value of their currency. According to her, this attitude caused the Ghana cedi to underperform.
''They came to say the dollar will get stronger and stronger. The speculations we were all condemning were all triggered by the NDC.''
The Deputy Communications Director of the NPP believes that speculations from the opposition party worsened the inflation rate.
Rabi Salifu insisted she had evidence to support her allegations when the host challenged her for evidence to back her claims.
A few months ago, the government cautioned Ghanaians to desist from spreading false information about the cedi, and anyone doing that would get punished.
