NDC Takes to the Skies: Airlifting Electoral Items for Successful Saturday Polls

Edudzi, a member of Godwin Edidzi Tameklo's legal team, has revealed that the party plans to transport electoral materials across the country by air on Friday, May 12. The objective is to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the presidential parliamentary primaries scheduled for Saturday, May 13.

In an interview with TV3's Komla Kluste, Edudzi expressed their determination to proceed with the elections, stating, "We are going ahead with the elections tomorrow, and we will airlift most of the items immediately."

During the court proceedings, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a flagbearer aspirant, withdrew the injunction application against the party. Dr. Duffuor's lawyers informed the judge that their client had instructed them to discontinue the case.

Abraham Amaliba, the Director of Legal Affairs of the NDC, confirmed the discontinuation of the case to journalists after the court proceedings. He expressed gratitude to the party's Council of Elders, National Chairman, and General Secretary for their efforts in resolving the matter. He also thanked Dr. Duffuor for his magnanimity in withdrawing the case, emphasizing that this development demonstrates the unity within the NDC.

Dr. Duffuor had filed the injunction application on Tuesday, May 9, seeking to halt the primaries due to concerns about the electoral album. The application cited the delayed delivery of the photo album to his representatives and the subsequent limited time for verification before the internal elections on May 13.

Earlier, Dr. Duffuor's campaign team had requested a postponement of the Presidential Primaries, citing flaws in the voter register. They claimed that a thorough review of the register for 220 constituencies had revealed numerous discrepancies, compromising its completeness and accuracy. The team believed that proceeding with the election using such a register would undermine its credibility and integrity and potentially harm Dr. Kwabena Duffuor's chances as a flagbearer hopeful.
