NDC condemns Suame Youth Organiser inciting political violence

Tue, 7 Feb 2023 Source: Club Mate

Koampa Razak Avoliya, also known as Mosquito, is the NDC constituency youth organiser for Suame in the Ashanti Region. He made an explosive statement that has been strongly condemned by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The party said the young man spoke off the cuff and should therefore be forgiven.

Mr Avoliya is said to have urged party members to be violent ahead of the 2024 general elections so that his party can win power.

He told NDC supporters in Suame to attack NPP members ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The police in the Ashanti Region are looking for him as a warning to others after the video went viral.

But in an interview on Adom FM's morning show, Dwaso Nsem asked for forgiveness through George Opare Addo, who is the National Youth Organiser of the NDC.

He said the NDC is a political party that abides by the law and won't use violence to get into power.

"We don't support him because nobody believes that politics is like war. "I don't like some of the words he used," he said.

The NDC youth leader, known as "Pablo", said Razak was a calm and responsible young man.

"I know Razak and he couldn't hurt a fly if he tried. He just bragged and spoke off the cuff, so let us mix justice with mercy," he pleaded.

Mr Addo, on the other hand, said the explosive comment should wake up the police who haven't done anything about the deaths of eight NDC members during the 2020 general elections.

He said although it was a bad thing to say, "it can't be swept under the carpet".

He said, "We don't agree with the call for violence, but there are important issues that the police need to help solve."

Pablo said that if the police didn't do their job, party members might say more violent things like this.

"Don't be shocked when people say these things. "You can't have peace without doing the right thing," he said.
