He claimed to have performed a miracle by turning water into tea and to have 12 disciples, just like Jesus.

A group of Kenyans have called for the same punishment for a Bungoma man who claims to be Jesus.

After claiming to be the Christian Messiah, Yesu Wa Tongaren, real name Eliud Wekesa, captured the nation's attention.

Wekesa claimed to perform a miracle of turning water into tea, just like the biblical Christ. He also claimed to have 12 disciples.

Wekesa's story spread like wildfire, and many Kenyans recommended that Wekesa follow in Jesus' footsteps to the end.

Yesu Wa Tongaren should take his turn on the cross, the Facebook user claimed, saying that calling himself Jesus should have consequences.

This Bungoma man should be executed. He cannot claim to be Jesus and not feel pain. What do you think, people?

A surprising number of Kenyans jokingly agreed with the idea. Some even suggested raising money to buy the cross.

Check out some comments below:

Patrick Ofwiti Masiga:

“Crucify him.”

Xpin Artisan:

“I don’t think he can handle the thrashing.”

Wanyama Wakoli:

“We are waiting for Juda and Simon. Those are major characters in that mission.”

Gerald Wamai:

“I have six inch nails and a hammer. Let others raise money for the cross.”
