The case of a senior lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), who is standing trial for allegedly kidnapping his wife, has been "no show" at the Kumasi High Court.
Dr Wilberforce Nkrumah Aggrey has been on bail since August 2022. He was charged with kidnapping his 32-year-old wife, Rhodaline Amoah-Darko, who worked as a Senior Lands Administrative Officer at the Kumasi office of the Lands Commission.
The case was due to be resumed on Tuesday.
People involved in the case, including a witness who was supposed to testify and members of Friends of Rhoda, a pressure group made up of people who worked or went to school with Rhodaline and wanted her found, were in court.
But because of the non-availability Judge Daniel Obeng, the hearing had to be postponed, which was disappointing for both sides.
He was also charged for deceit of a public officer.
Later, in November 2021, he was remanded into prison custody.
But on Monday, 21 February 2022, he was released by the Asokwa District Court.
Dr Aggrey was again taken into custody and brought before the High Court on new charges.
He remained in prison custody until 1 August 2022, when he was released on bail in the sum of 300,000 Ghana cedis with one surety.
At least three teaching assistants from the Petroleum Department of the KNUST have testified in court in the case.
The case has been adjourned to 14 March 2023.
