Obrafour, a respected rapper from Ghana, has taken legal action against Drake, the American rapper, for infringing on his copyright according to a report by Ameyaw Debrah.
In the lawsuit filed at the District Court of Southern District of New York, it is alleged that Drake used a sample from Obrafour's "Oye Ohene (Remix)" in his song "Calling My Name" without permission.
It appears that Drake had requested permission to use the sample via email, but his request was denied. However, he went ahead to include the sample in the track, which was later featured in his album, "Honestly, Nevermind". Due to the success of the song, which was widely popular on Drake's album, Obrafour is seeking a whopping $10 million in compensation.
