Reverend Minister Edward Buabeng has been given a total of 519 years in prison by an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Evelyn Asamoah.

The sentence was given to Rev. Buabeng yesterday. He was found guilty on 173 counts of conspiracy to commit a crime and defrauding by false pretences.

The convict would serve 80 years for each count, but the sentences would run at the same time.

Wilfred Brown, who is 58 years old and works as an accountant, was the second person accused. Mrs. Asamoah cleared him of all the charges.

Aubrey des-Bordes Mends, the third person charged, ran away right after her plea was taken and bail was given at the beginning of the case. The court ordered Aubrey to be caught and put in jail.

Nonetheless, the case was over after a three-year trial in which 12 witnesses from more than 100 people who had been scammed testified against the accused people.
