The Western Regional Police Command has caught three armed men who robbed K.K Gold, a gold-buying agency in Tarkwa. The suspects were part of a group of six robbers who attacked the shop on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 between 6:30pm and 7pm. The suspects were identified as Samuel Amaesh, a 47-year-old Togolese; Ezekiel Stephen, a 45-year-old Nigerian, and Fataw Dawda, a 42-year-old Ghanaian.
The robbers, who wore helmets and face masks, entered the shop and used guns to beat up the workers, taking gold and money valued at GH¢613,000. They then fled on three motorbikes. The Regional Police Command acted swiftly by alerting all district commanders and the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) to apprehend the suspects.
Thanks to their efforts, two of the suspects, Samuel Amaesh and Ezekiel Stephen, were caught at their hideout in Essouso with the help of the local youth. A sack containing GH¢397,190 and 4.7 grams of gold was recovered from them. On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, the PID arrested the third suspect, Fataw Dawda, with the help of intelligence.
All three suspects are currently in police custody in Tarkwa, and the police are working hard to catch the other suspects involved in the robbery. They will soon be arraigned before court. This is a great example of the police's dedication to protecting the public and bringing criminals to justice.
