Police Inspector's alleged murder tarnishes GPS image - Lawyer

Fri, 28 Apr 2023 Source: Club Mate

Lawyer Kofi Bekai has expressed his belief that the alleged actions of the Police Inspector who shot and killed Maa Adwoa in Kumasi have damaged the reputation of the Ghana Police Service.

As a trained officer who was taught to defend the lives and property of the people, it is disheartening that he ended up allegedly shooting and killing someone with the very weapon he was entrusted to protect them with.

The lawyer stated on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that regardless of whatever justification the suspect may have had, the damage has already been done, and it is up to the court to hear the case and administer justice. While the Police Administration may not be able to punish him, the court will hold him accountable for his actions.

Furthermore, the police department will issue him a summary dismissal, which means he will not receive any benefits, pay or anything else he would have been entitled to while serving the service.

Inspector Ahmed Twumasi was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing a woman believed to be his side chick. The incident occurred on April 20th, 2023, in Kumasi, Ashanti Region. Following the shooting incident, a special police operation was launched which resulted in his arrest at Sekyere near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region.
