A Texas mother who abandoned her 12-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son for two months is being sought by police.

The Roman Forest Police Department has issued a warrant for the mother, Raven Yates, who is charged with two counts of endangering/abandoning a child without the intent to return, according to the department.

The father of the 12-year-old called police on 14 November to report that the two children had been home alone since 28 September.

The siblings allegedly had little access to food or medicine during the weeks they were left home alone.

The father, who lived and worked in California, reportedly took an immediate flight to Texas. He told authorities that Yates had been seen in Mobile, Alabama, without the children, police said, according to ABC News.

When his daughter asked him to send her food more often, he learned that the children had been left home alone.

Police were called after the father called them, and they arrived at the home where the two children were staying.

Police in Texas are searching for a mother who left her two children there for two months.

The children appeared to be in good health, but there was no food on the shelves or in the fridge.

The 12-year-old was apparently very creative. The police said she shouldn't have been forced to do this.

According to the police, the children weren't enrolled in school.

Police say the two children are safe with their grandmother in Alabama.

Investigators found evidence that Yates had reported the runaway of a third child, a 14-year-old, weeks before she abandoned her other children.

The child also made it to her grandmother's home.

Authorities say Yates is still in the Mobile area. Ross Forest police are working with Mobile police on the investigation.

Yates' whereabouts have been unknown since a warrant was originally issued for her arrest on December 6.
