A pregnant woman named Abercy Chishapira was caught with another man in a lodge by her husband. The situation was similar to that of the recently viral Martha.
Martha's husband found her in a compromising position on their bed with a self-proclaimed prophet.
A man from Bulawayo who is also a medical student at Mpilo Central Hospital and had long thought his pregnant partner was cheating on him was proved right in the most dramatic way.
But the two guys he saw having sex with his girlfriend in a city lodge and an apartment both ended up crying.
Part-five medical student Prosper Mpofu, 27, beat Erick Gumbo of the Nkulumane neighborhood badly after he saw him smoking mjolo with his girlfriend Abercy "Spongy" Chishapira at a city lodge.
Mpofu, who is married to Abercy Chishapira, is said to have threatened to cut off Gumbo's manhood in a fit of anger.
Mpofu also beat Butholenkosi Gula Ndebele very badly with his fists and open hands on the face, chest, neck, and back after finding him in bed with his lover at Ndebele's city apartment.
He then hit him with a guitar, which broke into pieces, and then smashed the screen of his 55-inch Samsung TV.
When Mpofu went on his rampage, he caused a lot of damage. When he went to court in Bulawayo, he was charged with two counts of assault and one count of malicious damage to property.
He said he wasn't guilty of all three charges, but there was too much evidence against him.
For the first two assault charges against Mpofu, he was fined $70,000. (or seven months in jail). Ten months of jail time were put off for five years if the person was good.
On count three, he was sentenced to ten months in jail, but five of those months were put off for five years if he was good during that time.
The other five months were put off on the condition that he pay Ndebele $1,000 for the goods he broke while beating him up.
When deciding on the sentence, the magistrate took into account that Mpofu had "passionately" apologized to both the court and the two victims. He also took into account that Mpofu was a first-time offender and a fifth-year medical student at Mpilo Hospital.
"He is single and has a pregnant girlfriend who is engaged to him. In this case, she is at the center of these crimes." She got the two complainants to come to her for the Bible's "fruits of wisdom," and then she slept with them.
"The victim's actions caused the accused to give in to her charms. He has never been in trouble with the law before. He is not working, but is in his fifth year of school at Mpilo.
"Accused, on the other hand, took the law into his own hands and turned to violence instead of talking to solve a problem. He hit the people hard enough to cause serious injuries. He was supposed to work things out with his girlfriend instead of going to the people who were complaining.
The magistrate said, "The court will give you a prison sentence, but it will be suspended if you are good and pay back what you stole."
Mpofu said in his defense plan, which was mostly disputed, that Gumbo choked him and he fought back. He said that he then beat him up, and Gumbo was lying on him as punishment for catching him with his "wife."
Mpofu said that when he found Ndebele with his "wife," he grabbed him and they fought until Ndebele fell on the TV. He said that he slapped him with his hands open, and when Ndebele tried to hit him with a guitar, he moved out of the way, and the guitar fell and broke the picture frame. He said that he didn't damage the things as was said.
The court heard that on October 7, 2022, around 3 p.m., Gumbo made a reservation at a city lodge where he had sex with Chishapira.
It is said that Mpofu walked into the room while the two were making out and started beating Gumbo with his fists all over his body. He cut Gumbo's eyelid and gave him bruises.
Mpofu is also said to have stepped on him and pulled out his organ as if he wanted to cut it off.
In court, it was revealed that when Mpofu burst into the room, Gumbo thought it was a ghost coming to attack him.
The court also heard that Ndebele met Chishapira in town on October 10, 2022, and brought her to his apartment, where they did mjolo.
It is said that while the two were enjoying themselves, Mpofu burst into the bedroom and started hitting Ndebele with his fists and open hands on the face, chest, neck, and back, accusing him of having an affair with his "wife."
The brave Mpofu then took a guitar and hit him in the back with it, breaking it.
He then kicked his 55-inch Samsung TV, which made it fall and break the screen.
The two victims went to the police and told them what happened. After the police looked into it, Mpofu was arrested.
