Prof Boateng must back allegations against me with evidence – Former MP

Albert Quarm, the former MP for Manso Nkwanta, has responded to allegations made against him by former Minister of Environment, Prof Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, regarding his involvement in galamsey operations.

Quarm has challenged Boateng to provide evidence for his claims, stating that he is a staunch opponent of illegal mining in Ghana and does not own any concessions for mining activities.

Quarm argued that he advocated for legal small-scale mining permits to protect the environment, but Boateng's allegations that he owns large-scale concessions and sells them for GH₵200,000 are false. Quarm called for Boateng to provide documentation proving his allegations.

In a report written by Boateng to the Chief of Staff, the President, and the police, it was indicated that some government officials were involved in galamsey, including Quarm, who was accused of using his position as a member of the Minerals Commission board to acquire and sell concessions.

However, Quarm has denied the allegations and threatened legal action against Boateng if he does not retract his statements and apologize.
