Ahmed Twumasi, a Ghanaian police Inspector, has been in the news recently for the wrong reasons. He is stationed at the Manhyia Palace among Palace security and is a member of the Ashanti regional police command's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit.
His nickname is Tycoon. Unfortunately, he allegedly shot his girlfriend, Victoria Dapaah (also known as Maa Adwoa), six times due to suspicions of cheating. This led to a breakup, which the police officer tried to reconcile but failed.
He then allegedly pulled out a side arm and shot her several times until she bled and passed away. This incident occurred in Kumasi on Thursday, April 20, 2023.
According to reports, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi began behaving abnormally two months ago when he suspected Maa Adwoa of cheating on him. He started visiting his mother's tomb at the cemetery to sleep after her recent funeral. Additionally, he started exhibiting signs of mental illness, which were closely associated with Maa Adwoa.
The police arrested Inspector Ahmed Twumasi on Sunday from his hideout in Sekyere, near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region. The Ghana Police released a statement that he is currently in police custody and will face justice in court. It is a sad and unfortunate incident that resulted in the loss of life.

Why he was arrested
According to police sources, he allegedly shot his girlfriend 6 times over an affair closely linked to the deceased.
The Ghana Police released a statement which read:
“POLICE INSPECTOR ARRESTED FOR THE MURDER OF A WOMAN IN KUMASI IN THE ASHANTI REGION.
“The Police have this evening arrested a Police officer, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, who is alleged to have shot and killed a female adult, who was believed to be his girlfriend.
“The shooting incident occurred in Kumasi, in the Ashanti region, on Thursday, 20th April 2023.
“The suspect, who has been on the run since the incident, was arrested at Sekyere, near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region as a result of a special Police operation, which was launched following the shooting incident.
“The suspect is currently in Police custody and will be put before court to face justice,” the statement concluded.
