Residents Displaced In Bono After Rainstorms

Tue, 18 Apr 2023 Source: Club Mate

Last week, a heavy rainstorm hit Miawani, a small island community on the Volta Lake in the Bono East Region. The storm was so severe that it destroyed several buildings, including the only basic school in the area, leaving around 400 residents homeless. Due to the damage, the children in the community have had to abandon their studies.

The affected residents have expressed their sadness and disappointment, saying that it will take a while for them to recover from the disaster.

They are now appealing to the District Assembly for help because the situation is becoming unbearable. Ebenezer Duniah, a resident of the community, pleaded with the authorities to visit the area and see the damage done.

The District Chief Executive for Pru East, Alhaji Abdulai Adams, has promised that the assembly is arranging for a boat to visit the victims and provide assistance. This is a positive sign, and we hope that the affected people will receive the necessary support and relief soon.

We empathize with the people of Miawani and hope that they will be able to rebuild their homes and community soon.
