Tragedy struck in Mankessim, a town located in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region, when a fifteen-year-old girl lost her life due to a tragic incident. The young girl, named Winnefred Abena Binney, was playing with her three siblings behind a fence wall during a heavy rainfall on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Suddenly, the fence wall, which was still under construction, collapsed, tragically crushing the girl.
Janet Binney, the grieving mother, recounted the heart-wrenching incident to Kasapa News. She immediately called for help from their neighbors, who promptly rushed to the scene and managed to remove the collapsed wall. Sadly, despite their efforts, Winnefred had already succumbed to her injuries and passed away on the spot.
Following the tragic incident, the body of Winnefred Abena Binney was taken to the Roman Catholic Hospital Mortuary in Mankessim. Additionally, the police have been informed and an official report has been filed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collapse of the fence wall.
This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety precautions during construction and the need for constant vigilance, particularly in hazardous weather conditions. The loss of a young life is a heartbreaking event that deeply impacts the family and community.
