In a tragic loss that has left the music industry in deep sorrow, veteran highlife artiste Kwadwo Akwaboah Snr has passed away. This news, shared by his son on Instagram, has brought tears to the eyes of Ghanaians. The demise of Akwaboah Snr occurred on Tuesday, May 16, following a long battle with an undisclosed illness.

Prior to his passing, Akwaboah Snr had faced physical impairment, which he attributed to a spiritual attack during his time in Holland. He woke up one day after performing with a band and discovered a blood spot on his right eye. Despite seeking medical attention and using prescribed eye drops, the condition persisted and worsened. In hopes of finding a solution, he returned to Ghana to consult herbalists and spiritual practitioners, but unfortunately, the situation continued to deteriorate.

Akwaboah Snr's musical legacy spans several decades, and he was highly regarded as one of the finest keyboardists in the country. He followed in the footsteps of his late father, Master Kwabena Akwaboah, who was also a renowned highlife artiste. Keeping the family tradition alive, Akwaboah Snr's son, Akwaboah, has followed in his father's musical path.

The late artiste's final musical project was recorded two years ago when he collaborated with his son, Akwaboah, on a remix of his popular 1990s hit song. This collaboration showcases the musical bond between generations and serves as a testament to the enduring impact of Akwaboah Snr's talent and contribution to the highlife genre.

In conclusion, the passing of Kwadwo Akwaboah Snr marks a significant loss in the music industry, leaving behind a legacy of musical excellence and a deep sense of mourning among Ghanaians. His talent as a keyboardist, his dedication to his craft, and his musical collaborations with his son will be cherished as part of his enduring musical legacy. May his soul rest in peace.
