Crime Check got a man out of jail after he was put there for two years for stealing eight fowls.
The man was set free after his fine was paid, thanks to the help of the NGO. Crime Check is a Ghanaian NGO that shows the documentary Life in Prison in schools, churches, mosques, communities, and other places where crime is a problem to make people aware of how dangerous crime can be.
The sad story was posted on the foundation's official Facebook page, as shown below;
"8 chickens = 2 years in prison. Even though Kwame Adra did something wrong, he could have been cleaning out the gutters if we had a Non-Custodial Law. He lost his mother when he was young, and his stepmother hated him.
He also wouldn't go to school because he doesn't think he is smart enough to listen to a teacher. There are a lot of Kwame Adras, but all of these small-time criminals shouldn't go to prison quickly, especially when politicians use legal loopholes to delay their trials after stealing huge amounts of money from the public purse.
We paid his fine and got him out of jail through our Ex-Convict Reintegration Project. We also told him not to do wrong again.
