I read an article on Myjoyonline.com about an unfortunate incident that occurred at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. It was reported that a pregnant woman, Salamatu Ali, was allegedly assaulted on Monday, May 1, 2023, by a security man at the hospital.
Salamatu had gone to the hospital to have an operation with her unborn child. Upon her discharge, she stepped out to pay her bills, and upon her return, the security man reportedly denied her entry. This led to an altercation between Salamatu and the security man, which ended in the alleged assault.
To make matters worse, Salamatu's sister, who was there to help due to her weakness, tried to intervene and was also beaten up by the security man. Additionally, another woman who was recording the incident was also assaulted.
According to Aliru Zubaru, the Public Relations Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, the matter has been brought to their attention, and an investigation is currently underway. If the culprits are found guilty, the necessary punishment will be meted out to them.
It's a sad situation, and I hope justice prevails for Salamatu, her sister, and the other woman involved.
