Shocking As Accountant Disappears After Relocating To Belgium

Sun, 4 Dec 2022 Source: Club Mate

Anthony Isabor's family is sad that he hasn't been seen since 2014, when his cousin Doris Usiagwu took him to Belgium to get a job.

Punch Metro found out that once Anthony got to Belgium, he stopped talking to anyone. His parents and siblings tried to get in touch with him but were unsuccessful.

Sunday, the victim's brother, told a Punch reporter on Monday that Anthony told their mother that he was in Belgium, and that was the last time they heard from him.

Sunday said, “My brother studied accounting and when he graduated, he needed a job, so my cousin, Doris Usiagwu, who is based in Belgium, took my brother along with her elder sister’s daughter to Belgium in 2015.

“When my brother arrived in Belgium, he called my mother with a number that was not his, saying he had arrived and that was the last time we heard from him. We've tried everything to get in touch with him, but nothing has worked.

"Every time we called my cousin to ask about my brother, she programmed our phone numbers so that we couldn't reach her. I have tried everything, including praying and giving money, to find out where my brother is, but nothing has worked.

Sunday said that their mother got high blood pressure because of what happened when Anthony went missing and how hard they tried to find him.

"My mother is a widow, and she has been sad about it, which has caused her to have high blood pressure. Even though we tried hard to find my brother, my cousin's family acted like nothing was wrong.

"I think my cousin knows where my brother is and is taking advantage of him by using him. A few years ago, she came back. When my mom asked her where Anthony was, she didn't say anything. "When the police were called, her father once made threats against my mother," the angry brother said.

Punch correspondents saw letters sent on Sunday to the Embassy of Belgium, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, and the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Sunday, though, said that none of the letters had been answered.

The letter written to the NIDCOM read in part, “We kindly request you to please use your good office to help my family in the search for my brother. My mum is a helpless widow and this seven-year search has taken a toll on my family.

"I am begging you, the Federal Government of Nigeria, through His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, and the Nigeria Embassy in Belgium, with all my heart and soul to help my family and save my brother."

People tried to talk to Usiagwu about the accusations that were made against her, but she wouldn't answer her phone when they called.

At the time this report was made, she had not yet answered a text message sent to her phone number.
