Stephen Appiah told to acquire education for leadership role in football

Nana Oduro Sarfo, an executive member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has provided guidance to former footballers who aspire to occupy prominent positions in Ghanaian football administration.

Sarfo emphasizes that basic qualifications acquired through education are essential prerequisites for eligibility in such roles.

This recommendation was prompted by Stephen Appiah's commentary on football administration in Ghana, where the former captain of the Black Stars lamented the underutilization of ex-footballers' experience by the governing bodies.

Appiah argued that football administration should be primarily driven by footballers' knowledge of the sport rather than their English-speaking abilities.

Nevertheless, Sarfo counters this assertion by stating that experience alone is insufficient to take up leading roles in football administration. He suggests that former footballers should augment their experience with education to bolster their credentials.
