The remains of Atsu, who died in an earthquake in Turkey, has arrived at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra this evening.
The body of the former Black Stars footballer was transported from Turkey and he will be buried in his birthplace, the Ghana Foreign Ministry said in a statement this morning.
Preparations were underway to receive Christian Atsu's body when TV3 visited his family home in Ogbodjo, Accra.
Views from the family home showed grieving relatives mourning the loss of their loved one as they awaited the arrival of the body.
When the remains arrived from Istanbul, Türkiye, the family, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the government received it at the Kotoka International Airport.
