The Akyems want to defeat Mahama with Bawumia – Analyst

A political analyst, William Owusu Ansah, has advised former President John Dramani Mahama to be cautious and take proactive measures to avoid surprises in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. According to Ansah, there are efforts by a group he refers to as the 'Akyems' to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Ansah warned Mahama to be wary of the Akyems, as they have defeated him twice before, in 2016 and 2020, and they intend to defeat him once more in 2024. Their plan this time is to defeat Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the candidate, and they are already taking action. Ansah emphasized that Mahama must remain vigilant and not underestimate the upcoming election, as he might be caught off guard.

The analyst further mentioned that if Bawumia becomes the NPP's candidate, he could have an advantage over Mahama in the northern regions. He suggested that Bawumia, with serious effort and the support of the Akyems, could break the 8-year jinx and potentially secure victory. Additionally, Ansah highlighted the significance of a candidate's choice of running mate, as it could influence their chances of winning the 2024 elections.

In conclusion, it is crucial for Mahama to heed the warning and take necessary steps to counter the Akyems' plans. The upcoming election is expected to be challenging, and Mahama should not assume it will be an easy ride. The choice of the NPP's candidate and their running mate will play significant roles in determining the outcome of the election. Candidates must carefully consider these factors if they aim to secure victory in 2024.
