On March 27th, 2023, the police conducted an intelligence operation that led to the arrest of three individuals in Japa, near Wassa Akropong in the Western Region, for brandishing firearms on social media.
The suspects were identified as Godfred Appiah, also known as Nana Kobina Gyan, Isaac Amoako, also known as Nana Owusu, and Theophilus Yeboah, also known as Fire.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Theophilus Yeboah and Isaac Amoako were the supplier and owner of the firearms, respectively.
The police searched Isaac Amoako's residence and found four pump action shotguns and twenty-four AAA-refilled cartridges.
The suspects have been charged with possession of firearms without lawful authority and acts of vigilantism. They were brought before the Tarkwa Circuit Court on March 29th, 2023, and have been remanded into custody until their next court appearance on April 6th, 2023.
