Residents of Amasaman are in a state of shock following a horrifying incident where a 12-year-old boy was allegedly murdered and had his tongue removed. The father of the victim, Peter Osafo, shared the details of the incident during an interview on a morning radio show. According to Mr Osafo, the tragic event occurred last Sunday while they were preparing to go to church. He had asked his son, Justice Akakpo Mensah, to sweep while he cooked, but when he finished, he realized that Justice was nowhere to be found.

Growing concerned as time passed, Mr Osafo and his family initiated a search for their missing son around 3 pm. During the search, they received information about a body found wrapped in a sack near Pokuase, with the tongue removed. They immediately rushed to the police station, where the discovery was confirmed. Later, they visited the location where the body was found, and a witness informed them that the body had been dropped behind someone's house. Interestingly, it turned out that the house belonged to their neighbors.

Mr Osafo expressed disbelief at the situation, as there had been no issues between his family and the neighbors. They were on good terms, making it difficult for him to comprehend why they would commit such a gruesome act and kill his son. When the police showed Mr Osafo pictures of his son, he tragically discovered that Justice's tongue had indeed been removed, and he was wearing the same shirt he had last seen him in.

The primary suspect in the case is the neighbor, who claimed that one of his sons accidentally shot Justice while they were playing. However, Mr Osafo found this explanation implausible since they hadn't heard any gunshots despite the close proximity of their houses.

Mary Essirifi, the mother of the deceased, joined the interview and tearfully expressed her confusion and grief. She mentioned the close relationship they had with their neighbors, who frequently purchased food from her. Additionally, her son often helped them with their animals. There had been no issues between the families, making it even more devastating for her to comprehend why her son was brutally killed.

Currently, the neighbors and their entire family are in police custody, held at the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters. The authorities will continue their investigations into this horrific crime to seek justice for Justice Akakpo Mensah and his grieving family.
