A 17-year-old Senior High School (SHS) student from Wenchi in the Bono Region has been reported dead.
Aisha Seidu, a second year student of the Islamic SHS in Kumasi, was killed by unknown assailants a day after she went home to Wenchi Zongo for the holidays.
Relatives told the media that her body was found in a pool of blood in the early hours of Tuesday 21 February 2023. This suggests that her attacker, who may have also raped her, may have beaten her with a club.
When the Ghana Police Service was called to the scene, she was said to be allegedly bleeding from her private parts.
The police took her to the Wenchi Methodist Hospital, but by the time they got there, she had died.
Since then, the Wenchi Municipal Command of the Ghana Police Service has been investigating how the person died, as the family believes it was a case of rape and murder.
Residents believe a man who allegedly raped the student killed her. They believe it was a premeditated crime and want those responsible to be caught and brought to justice.
