Tragic Twist: Man's Suicide Attempt Fails After Shocking Murder of Wife

In a tragic incident in Mpasaso, Ahafo Region, a man named Akwasi Brefo reportedly took the life of his wife, Janet Yobo, during a farming activity. According to a report from the DailyGuide newspaper, Brefo struck his wife on the head with a farming tool, resulting in her untimely death. Overwhelmed with guilt and fearing the consequences of his actions, Brefo consumed a liquid substance suspected to be weedicide in an attempt to end his own life. However, he was unsuccessful in his suicide attempt.

The incident occurred on May 22, 2023, when the couple went to their farm together. Upon investigation, the police discovered the lifeless body of Janet Yobo lying on her left side in a pool of blood, wearing a cream shirt, white trousers, and a green cloth across her chest. The examination revealed a deep cut at the back of her head, confirming the cause of her tragic demise.

Following the incident, the police promptly took the victim to the Mpasaso Health Center, where her death was confirmed. The body of Janet Yobo has been transferred to the Plus Lab Mortuary in Mankranso for preservation and further examination through an autopsy.

As for the accused, Akwasi Brefo, he is currently receiving treatment at the Mankranso Government Hospital due to the failed suicide attempt.

It is indeed a heartbreaking incident that has left a community in sorrow. The loss of Janet Yobo's life and the failed suicide attempt of Akwasi Brefo serve as reminders of the importance of addressing conflicts and seeking help in times of distress. Such incidents highlight the need for increased awareness about mental health and the provision of support systems to prevent such tragic events from occurring in the future.
