A video that is going around social media shows how a "Trotro" (commercial vehicle) driver and his friend (conductor) beat up a police officer in Cape Coast very badly.
The video showed the driver and his friend pulling the police officer to the ground and beating him badly.
A report about what happened after the incident says that on Monday, December 12, 2022, the police officer was directing traffic at the main gate of the University of Cape Coast. The driver and his friend were in a Mercedes Benz Trotro (Commercial Vehicle) from Elmina that was going to Accra.
The report says that when they got to the UCC gate, the officer arrested them for a traffic violation and told them to drive the car to the police headquarters in Pedu, which is in the Central Region.
Then, the infamous driver drove past the police headquarters in the car, stopped at the Hacienda Hotel in Cape Coast, brought out the police officer who was in the car, and beat him badly until he was saved by people walking by.
An eyewitness who happened to be at the scene at the time of the event took a picture of what happened and shared it.
Sources close to the police say that the driver in question, whose name is Jephter Boateng, and his partner, Sadick Arthur, are in custody right now helping the police with their investigations.
