In Sefwi Wiawso, a town in the Western North Region, an Immigration Officer heroically saved two Police Officers from an attacker at a church. The officers had been dispatched to respond to a distress call from an Anglican Church where a man was assaulting worshippers. However, their lives were spared thanks to the timely intervention of AICOII Nurudeen Abul-Ganiew Takra, an immigration officer stationed in the region.

As Nurudeen was returning home from town, he noticed commotion near the Anglican Church Park, close to the Wiawso District Police Stations. Curious about the situation, he approached and found an unconscious police inspector and a corporal under attack, with an AK 47 rifle lying on the ground. Before he could reach them, the attacker struck the corporal on the head, rendering him unconscious as well. With both officers down and onlookers afraid to intervene, the assailant attempted to seize the rifle to cause further harm.

However, Nurudeen acted swiftly and managed to pick up the AK 47 before the attacker. The assailant then aggressively advanced toward Nurudeen, wielding a pestle. Sensing the imminent danger, Nurudeen fired a warning shot, but the attacker persisted and attempted to strike him with the pestle. Exercising extreme caution due to the growing crowd, Nurudeen aimed and shot the attacker in the right thigh, immobilizing him. The commotion attracted more people, including fellow police officers, who assisted in apprehending the assailant. Among the items retrieved from him were a sharp knife, a locally made catapult, and the pestle he had used to attack his victims.

During the scuffle, Nurudeen successfully thwarted the attacker's attempt to seize the police's AK 47 rifle. Following the incident, all three individuals involved—the two police officers and the assailant—were taken to the Wiawso Municipal Hospital for medical attention. A formal report was filed, and the AK 47 rifle was handed over to the Wiawso District Police for further investigation.

The brave actions of Immigration Officer Nurudeen Abul-Ganiew Takra in Sefwi Wiawso undoubtedly saved the lives of two police officers who were in grave danger during the attack at the Anglican Church. Nurudeen's quick thinking, courage, and decisive actions prevented a potentially tragic outcome. His intervention not only protected the officers but also helped to apprehend the violent attacker. This incident serves as a reminder of the bravery and dedication exhibited by law enforcement officers and the significant role they play in ensuring public safety. The collaboration between different branches of law enforcement exemplifies the importance of working together to protect communities. The people of Sefwi Wiawso are grateful for the heroism displayed by Nurudeen and the swift response of the police officers who assisted in bringing the situation under control.

Further updates on the matter will be shared once available.
