Unthinkable: Hotelier allegedly beaten to death by his two sons for cheating on their mother

In a tragic incident in Delta State, a well-known hotelier named Emekeme Joseph, who was affectionately known as Semikolo, sadly lost his life after being violently attacked by his own sons. The incident occurred when his sons, who had recently graduated from a prominent school, discovered their father's alleged involvement with another woman. Outraged by this discovery, they demanded a bribe of one million naira, threatening to inform their mother who was vacationing in the United States.

Refusing to give in to their demands, Joseph stood firm and called their bluff. This decision, however, led to his sons informing their mother about the affair, which greatly angered her. The following day, the father visited his wife's workplace, where his sons confronted and forcibly expelled him from the premises.

Incensed by their father's actions, the sons returned home and in a fit of rage, physically attacked him and even injured a police officer who came to his aid. Authorities swiftly apprehended the sons while Joseph was rushed to the hospital. Despite efforts to save him, his condition rapidly deteriorated, necessitating his transfer to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.

In an unexpected turn of events, Joseph's wife hastily returned to the country and managed to secure the release of her sons from police custody. Disregarding medical advice, she discharged her comatose husband from the hospital and brought him back home. Tragically, Joseph passed away at home in Ugbeyiyi.

Adding to the distressing nature of the situation, Joseph's wife provided misleading information to his friends, deceitfully claiming that they were in Lagos. In the aftermath of this heartbreaking incident, it has been noted that Joseph's wife changed her name on her social media accounts, reverting to her maiden name and omitting her husband's name.

This devastating event serves as a reminder of the complex dynamics that can exist within families and the profound impact it can have on individuals' lives. It is a tragedy that highlights the importance of open communication, empathy, and seeking peaceful resolutions to conflicts, ultimately preventing such unimaginable outcomes.
