Why I killed my boss, his wife and only son on new year’s day – Driver confesses

Lekan Adekanbi, one of the people suspected of killing former CBN staffer Kehinde Fatinoye, his wife Bukola Fatinoye and their only son Oreoluwa Fatinoye on New Year's Day in Abeokuta, Ogun State, said he did it because he was jealous of Kehinde Fatinoye.

Adekanbi has been the couple's driver since 2008. On Friday 10 February, he and three others were arrested and paraded at the state police headquarters in Abeokuta.

He told reporters that he orchestrated the killing because the couple wouldn't give him a raise or lend him money to buy a motorcycle.

He said he asked Ahmed Odetola, also known as Akamo, and Waheed Adeniyi, also known as Koffi, to help him rob the couple.

What he said:

"I did it because the couple wouldn't increase my salary and when I asked for a loan to buy a motorcycle, they didn't help.

"Since that didn't work, I gave the deceased my Access Bank account and N1,102,000 was transferred into it at gunpoint.

"When I found out that my bank account had given away my identity, I decided to end my relationship with other people. That's when Waheed Adeniyi, also known as 'Koffi', took a knife from their kitchen and killed the husband, Kehinde Fatinoye, while I killed the wife, Bukola Fatinoye, with a sledgehammer blow to the head".

He also said that during the robbery, Oreoluwa and Felix Olorunyomi, the couple's adopted son, entered the house. They were immediately caught, beaten and tied up with ropes behind their backs. They were then taken to the Ogun River bridge at Adigbe and thrown into the river.
