Hazraj Latif Byakika's wife, Fauzi Namuli, is said to have gotten angry on Friday, December 23, when he didn't raise enough money to braid her hair for the holiday.
New Vision said that Fauzi later went after her husband with a cutlass and cut him deeply in the head.
Before his neighbors found him panting and bleeding from the head, the vice president yelled for help.
Fauzi disappears
He was taken to the Kakooge Health Center II in the country for first aid, and then to the Kamuli General Hospital for more care.
Latif told reporters that his wife started asking for money to braid her hair two weeks before he got better.
He said he would give her the money a few days before Christmas, on December 25, but he didn't because he is having trouble with money right now.
"I said I would pay the hair bills, but as Christmas Day got closer, I didn't have enough money. She fought all night until morning, then dumped me at noon "Latif sadly said.
After the incident, Fauzi vanished into thin air, and she is now being looked for on charges of trying to kill someone and hurting someone.
