Mr Ishaq Kyei-Brobbey, a senior academic and a prominent member of the Muslim community, has taken Mr John Mahama to task for skipping the recent 2nd Akwasidae ceremonies in honour of the Asantehene.
According to Mr Ishaq Kyei-Brobbey, the former president disrespected the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, by refusing to enter the Manhyia Palace last Sunday when he was in the area to launch his own campaign.
He was in the Ashanti Region, but he didn't go to Otumfuo to show his respect. You came here to run for office, but you refused to see Otumfuo... Nevertheless, Mr Kyei-Brobbey remarked, when you travel to the Savannah Region to campaign, you will go and see Yagbonwura and identify yourself before you campaign.
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Samira Bawumia, however, attended the 2nd Akwasidae celebrations and paid homage to the Asantehene.
According to Mr Ishaq Kyei-Brobbey, who commented on the development, Mr Mahama is unlikely to defeat Vice President Bawumia in the 2024 elections.

According to him, the Northern Region would vote "skirt and blouse" in favour of the NPP.
