You Only Have A Week To Reinstate Haruna And Muntaka - Wontumi Tells NDC

You only have a week to bring back Haruna and Muntaka, ‘Governor’ Wontumi tells NDC.

Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has given the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) one week to bring back Hon. Haruna Iddrisu and Hon. Muntaka Mubarak as their Minority leader and Chief Whip, respectively.

Mr. Antwi-Boasiako, who is better known as Chairman Wontumi, says he has a big stake in the NDC and won't let the party fall apart on its own.

In an interview with Wontumionline.com, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said that Haruna Iddrisu and Muntaka Mubarak's removal was humiliating because of how loyal they have been to the NDC.

"I'm giving them one week to respond to my request. They (Muntaka and Haruna) have really worked, and taking them away is against the law.

"I have an interest in the NDC, and I don't want it to fall apart this way. You have to reinstate them, and if you have something against them, it's better to talk about it at NEC. "I want Mahama, Fiifi Kwetey, and Asiedu Nketia to follow my orders within one week," Chairman Wontumi said.

Last Thursday, January 26, the Minority in Parliament held an emergency meeting to discuss the removal of its leadership. This comes after the decision to change the leadership split the minority caucus.

So far, over 50 opposition lawmakers have signed a petition to the party leaders asking them to change their decision. According to them, the decision is unpopular, which is why they wanted it to be changed.

Some of the NDC MPs, including Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, were shocked by the decision.

The decision was made public on Tuesday, January 24. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, a lawmaker from the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Constituency, replaced Haruna Iddrisu as Minority Leader. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah of Ellembelle replaces James Klutse Avedzi as the Deputy Minority Leader.
