You can’t continue being president if you are old – Mahama to African leaders

African leaders can't stay in office if they are too old, said Mahama.

Former President John Dramani Mahama has said that African leaders over the age of 80 have no reason to try to stay in power.

He said that such old leaders easily lose their minds and can't make any decisions that will help their countries move forward.

When he was asked what he thought about old leaders still being in charge in Africa, Mahama said this.

"If a leader is old, he has no right to be a leader any longer, no matter where he comes from, whether Africa or somewhere else," he said.

Mahama also said, "When leaders have problems with their thoughts, they have no business being in charge, especially on a continent with such a young population as Africa."

Several African leaders are over 80 years old and still running their countries.

Some of them are Paul Biya, the president of Cameroon, who is 89 years old, Hage Gottfried Geingob, the president of Namibia, who is 81 years old, Alassane Ouattara, the president of Ivory Coast, who is 81 years old, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, the president of Equatorial Guinea, who is 80 years old, and Emmerson Mnangagwa, the president of Zimbabwe.
