You’ll be destooled if you don’t stop disgracing Bantama stool – Otumfuo warns Bantamahene

Wed, 22 Feb 2023 Source: Club Mate

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is worried about the actions of the Bantamahene, which he says have brought shame to the Asante Kingdom and the traditional seat where the Bantamahene, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, sits.

Bantamahene went to meet Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC) on 20 February 2023 because he had sold the same piece of land twice to one Mr Amponsah and a church, causing confusion between the two.

After settling the land dispute between Bantamahene and the other people involved, Otumfuo told Bantamahene to give all the papers of the land to Mr Amponsah, to whom he had originally sold the land. He also told him to return the money he had taken from the church within 14 days, as he had promised before the traditional council.

Otumfuo also told Batamahene to make sure that Mr Amponsah gets all the papers relating to the land by 10am today, 21 February 2023.

Otumfuo didn't hold back when he spoke to Bantamahene. He said, "Baffour, with your position, bringing such cases to me means you're embarrassing me. This has happened before, so Baffour, be careful. If you don't change your ways, you will have to watch your own destoolment, and I won't forget to fire you tomorrow if you don't. Bantamahenes don't deserve to be accused of this crime. "You are making the Bantama stool look less important," Otumfuo told him.

He also said, "Baffour, what are you looking for in this world? How much do you owe because you're always trying to get money? Because of your father, you're making my life very difficult," Otumfuo said angrily.

Otmfuo also said, "This is how your elder brother came to bother me until he died, and you are doing the same thing. You make me regret something. When your father was Bantamahene, he didn't do things like this. Your father never asked the Kumasi Traditional Council for anything, but you do it all the time. So I gave you the money because I knew you would follow in your father's footsteps. Look what you are doing now. As we speak, you have another charge pending against you: "On land, you used my name and sold it."

Otumfuo said Bantamahene didn't know how much the Bantama stool he was sitting on was worth.

"The stool you use as a Banatamahene, you don't know what it means or how important it is. If you're not careful, the stool will kick you out. If you do something wrong and then go to the traditional council, you lose your good name.”
