Ashesi University, the University of Ghana, and Academic City are in the first through third spots on the list, respectively, with ATU being the only technical university in the nation to make the cut.

The groundbreaking Times Higher Education Sub-Saharan Africa University Rankings 2023, which were released on June 26, 2023, indicated this.

Resources and funding, access and fairness, teaching abilities, student participation, and African effect made up the metrics for ranking.

Additionally, each of the five pillars has a number of metrics associated with it, and the measurements are mostly centred on how a university affects any of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

Top in SDG

At the inaugural SDGs Awards held at the La Palm Beach Hotel in Accra last month and organised by the African Global Response Energy Environment Limited, ATU was named the best in SDG research, demonstrating the university's dedication to cutting-edge, sustainable, and significant research as an institution of higher learning.

"This award is a testimony of the dedication, commitment, and hard work of management, staff, faculty, and students of Accra Technical University," claims acting vice chancellor Prof. Amevi Acakpovi.

The realisation of our university's objective, which is "to be recognised as the top Technical University in Ghana, with strong regional influence," is encouraged by this development.

This honour serves as a great inspiration for us to keep working hard to produce graduates who are competent and qualified for the global labour market and to consistently outperform in academic leadership, he said.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings—also referred to as the "THE Rankings"—are university rankings that are released yearly by the Times Higher Education magazine.

One of the most well-known university rankings overall is frequently considered to be this one.
