Arden to let Thomas Partey go

Sun, 23 Jul 2023 Source: factscheck.com

Thomas Partey, a defensive midfielder for Arsenal, reportedly has had attention from a number of teams. Juventus is one of those teams, along with a number of Saudi squads. Arsenal is reportedly aiming for roughly £30-40 million pounds to complete a deal for the 30-year-old's services.

After transferring to Arsenal from Atlético Madrid in late 2020 for £45 million, Thomas Partey quickly established himself as a key member of the team. Fans are wondering if it would be a good idea for the club to allow the Ghanaian international leave because of the rumours. This is because of his skills and the significance he has played recently.

As to why Arsenal would want to break up

After spending £105 million on Declan Rice, one might assume the Englishman would be an automatic starter for Arsenal. They both play the same position, thus it's assumed that Rice will eventually replace Partey. They might bolster their roster if an offer of approximately £30-£40 million came through for Partey. If Partey were to leave, Arsenal would reportedly pursue Roméo Lavia.

Partey has dealt with a few injuries over his career at Arsenal, missing a combined 37 games due to ailments. That's not great if you want to contend for trophies in many leagues next year. It might be best to use his extraordinary football skills in a supporting role, though.

Last year, Partey played a significant role in Arsenal's success. After returning from injury, he had difficulty regaining his previous level of play. In addition, he contributed to the demise of the team's quest to become Premier League title.

The Case for Keeping Partey at Arsenal

The Ghanaian is in the same conversation as Rodri and Casemiro when he is at his best. In fact, his early-season form last year led some to argue that he was superior than both. Partey has shown he can perform at a high level on the pitch, and he has established himself as a starter for Arsenal. Is Lavia capable of replacing Thomas Partey if they decide to buy him instead?

Partey's passing ability is superior to others in his position, and his ability to distribute the ball with ease is just one example of his wide range of great abilities. He excels at dribbling under pressure and winning aerial duels around the pitch. His octopus-like tackling and ability to easily steal the ball from opponents have earned him the nickname "octopus" among Arsenal supporters. He also maintains a high degree of focus for the duration of games.

Arsenal's return to the Champions League next season, as well as the club's desire to compete in other major competitions and begin winning silverware frequently again, highlights the importance of roster depth. Manchester City has demonstrated the need of having a plethora of players at each position to minimise performance drops. Given the increase in competition and pressure that will be placed on Arsenal in the upcoming season, this will be crucial.

Mikel Arteta is making a move.

Mikel Arteta's play in a midfield featuring Partey, Rice, and Martin degaard would be intriguing to see. Partey and Rice might play as a double pivot behind degaard in a 4-3-3.

Arsenal is expected to use Kai Havertz as an eight in their lineup. Havertz, Rice, and degaard are widely predicted to form the team's central midfield trio.

Whether or not Partey is on their team, Arteta has a strategy in place. Even if he decides to depart, a replacement will be found. After all, it wouldn't make sense to weaken the team before the season even starts by letting a player of such great calibre leave. The Gunners will compete for the Premier League, the Champions League, and other trophies this year.
