Mid-Year Budget to be reviewed 27th of July

It has been postponed until Thursday, July 27 for Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to deliver the Mid-Year Review of the Budget Statement and Economic Policy of Government, as well as the supplymentary projections for the 2023 Financial Year.

During his presentation of the Business Statement of the House for the week ending Friday, 28th July, Mr Habib Iddrisu, the Second Deputy Majority Whip, made the announcement on the floor of Parliament.

According to him, the House would only be in session for another seven days before adjourning sine die, therefore all House Committees with referral Bills were being urged to move quickly.

He mentioned the National Petroleum Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2023; the Rent Bill, 2023; the Budget Bill, 2023; and the Grains Development Authority Bill, 2022.

In order to get through all of the business on the docket for the ninth week and have the bills on the schedule passed quickly, the Business Committee, he said, has once again proposed that the House begin sitting each day at 1000 hours and extend sittings.

If these suggestions were approved, he continued, it would free up time for the House to address other matters of Parliamentary business.

Four ministers (Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Lands and Natural Resources, Sanitation and Water Resources, and Roads and Highways) were slated to appear before the House the next week to answer 26 questions (one urgent and 25 oral).
