This was in response to the fact that some people had threatened to vote against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because the government had not developed parts of the country as expected. Nobody will force you to vote in the election.

The President went on to say that while he accepts full responsibility for the current economic situation, external factors cannot be ignored.

The president expressed optimism that the economy would improve before his tenure ended, saying that he hoped the IMF's assistance would be completed by the middle of November so that it could be incorporated into the budget. When his mandate was up, he declared, "my hope is to remove Ghana from the IMF bemire."
