Akufo-Addo’s Private Conversation ‘Leaks’; Says He Doesn’t believe in ‘Reshuffling Appointees’

MyNewsGH in a publication wrote, President Akufo-Addo in an alleged leaked conversation stated he doesn't believe in reshuffling of government.

Check out the article below:

“I don’t believe in Reshuffle. No, I don’t. As for me, it is either you are in my government or you are out… absolutely. I don’t believe in reshuffling ministers or appointees…”.

The above is a paraphrase of a quote attributed to President Akufo-Addo by former Chairman of the Finance Committee of Parliament, Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah in a private conversation.

According to Dr. Assibey Yeboah, who has been tipped to replace Ken Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister, he and then candidate Akufo-Addo held a conversation in Koforidua and Akufo-Addo told him he didn’t believe in reshuffling his appointees.

What the President believed in, Dr. Assibey Yeboah revealed, is that you’re either part of the government or you are not.

This revelation came to light after earlier reports suggested an imminent reshuffle of ministers ahead of the President’s New Year Message in 2022 but which never happened.

President Akufo-Addo has come under serious pressure within and outside his government and party to reshuffle some non-performing ministers and other appointees but the President has refused to heed.

Many believe that if there is a reshuffle, things will turn around for the current government.

Dr. Assibey Yeboah has however revealed that Akufo-Addo as a candidate already never like the idea of reshuffle.

In August, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo observed that people who are calling for reshuffle have an agenda and said the calls mostly come from members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) who want to destabilize his government.

He also believed that some members of the NPP who need jobs are behind these calls and he will not fall for it.

“The calls come for all kinds of reasons; NDC wanting to destabilise the government is one. There are people who are also looking for jobs.”

The President was speaking on Tamale-based North Star radio rained praises on his Ministers indicating that they are doing well.

President Akufo-Addo said “many of them for me have done outstanding work. Their output has been considerable, and that is what I look at.”

“If the output measures expectations, then I don’t have any strong reasons to heed the call,” President Akufo-Addo added.
