Assin North: Honour my wife with your votes – Widower of NDC woman who died during campaign

Tue, 20 Jun 2023 Source: iNews

The husband of a supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who tragically lost her life during a campaign tour with former President John Mahama, has made a heartfelt plea to the residents of Assin Dansame in the Assin North Constituency. He is urging them not to let his wife's blood be in vain. With the upcoming bye-election scheduled for June 27, 2023, he appealed to the constituents to vote overwhelmingly for the NDC.

Yaw Sarfo, the widower and an NDC branch executive himself, expressed that his beloved wife suffered a painful death in service of the party she deeply cared for. He thus implored the party's leadership to always honor her memory and unwavering loyalty. In light of this tragic event, he advised everyone to exercise caution during the forthcoming bye-election to prevent any more loss of life.

Furthermore, he called upon the residents to reflect on his wife's agonizing demise and to cast their votes overwhelmingly for the NDC candidate, Gyakye Quayson, so that he could assume the role of Member of Parliament. By doing so, Mr. Sarfo hoped that Quayson would use his position to support and care for the children his wife left behind.

The accident that claimed Mrs. Sarfo's life also resulted in injuries to other supporters. Upon learning of the incident, the former President suspended his campaign for two hours to personally visit the bereaved family and those who were wounded.

In conclusion, Mr. Sarfo's emotional appeal serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by party supporters in their dedication to the NDC. It underscores the importance of the upcoming bye-election and the need for residents to vote in honor of his wife's memory, while also preventing further tragedies. By rallying behind the NDC candidate, they can contribute to the welfare of the community and ensure the well-being of the children left behind by the late supporter.
