Behind The Scene Story On Why Alan Kyerematen Resigned

Fri, 6 Jan 2023 Source: iNews

Nii Amartei Amartey is a professor of political science at the University of Professional Studies in Accra (UPSA). He says that Alan Kyerematen, the former Minister of Trade, needs time to start working toward his goal of becoming President of Ghana.

His comments come after the Minister of Trade and Industry gave his resignation to the Presidency.

Sources close to the Minister say he gave President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo his resignation letter on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

People think that Mr. Kyerematen made this choice so that he could focus on running for president.

On the show Morning Starr with Francis Abban, Mr. Amartei Amartey talked about what was going on and said that the former Trade Minister wants to be president and needs time to catch up with his rivals.

"It's reasonable to expect him to have some space in terms of time and other things so he can keep working toward what he wants for himself.

"He might have gotten a feel for the situation and decided that he hadn't done enough. Mr. Amartey said, "Let me resign, and then I'll get down to serious work to help me reach my goal of becoming president."

He went on to say, "He will also be competing with some people, including the Vice President. As Minister, he might not be as well known as the Vice President. So he must have realized that he needs to do more to become President of Ghana.

Mr. Kyerematen, also known as "Alan Cash," tried to become the leader of the New Patriotic Party in 2007. However, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo beat him, and he lost.

He ran for Flagbearer again in 2010 and again in 2014, but Nana Akufo Addo beat him both times.
