The people of Anyinabrim, in the Assin South District of the Central Region, want the Assin Anyinabrim Police Command to investigate an allegation that five police officers beat up a 23-year-old man.

In an interview, the victim's uncle said the victim was picking oranges with his friends at his house when a group of police officers pounced on them for no reason and beat the victim badly.

When his friends saw how bad it was, they ran away and told the rest of the town, who then surrounded the police station and tried to attack the officers.

They are therefore asking the Inspector General of Police, Dr Akuffo Dampare, to investigate the situation.

At the moment, the victim, who is pissing and vomiting blood, is being treated at a local clinic with the help of the police.

Meanwhile, the Assin South District Police Command has responded to the allegations by saying they are not true.

They said they had received a tip-off that the victim and his accomplices were doing something illegal, so they tried to arrest them, but the victim resisted by beating the police.

They also said that the doctor's report showed that the victim had a hernia and hadn't eaten all day, so he was in hospital when he was arrested.

Meanwhile, the case is being investigated by the Assin Anyinabrim Police Command.
