Court dismisses Chairman Wontumi's fresh case against Afia Schwarzenegger

In a recent development, Afia Schwarzenegger has emerged victorious in her ongoing feud with Chairman Wontumi, as the Accra High Court and Tema High Court dismissed a fresh case against her. This case aimed to hold Afia Schwarzenegger accountable for contempt, but according to her lawyer, Capt. RTD. Nkrabeah Effah Darteh ESQ, they were not even notified about the court appearance on May 17, 2023.

The absence of Chairman Wontumi and his legal counsel during the court proceedings played a crucial role in the dismissal of the lawsuit. It's worth recalling that Chairman Wontumi, along with Nana Ama McBrown, Aplus, and certain United Showbiz panellists, previously filed a slander action against Afia Schwarzenegger. This action stemmed from a discussion about a court matter between Afia Schwarzenegger and Chairman Wontumi on live television.

As a consequence of her behavior, Afia Schwarzenegger had been sentenced to 10 days in prison for disrespecting the court. However, she managed to evade serving her sentence initially, leading to a warrant for her arrest. Eventually, she apologized and turned herself in, but her attorney requested a fine instead of imprisonment. In order to have the prison term lifted, Afia was required to sign a bond of good behavior for 36 months and pay a fine of GHC60,000.

Under the terms of the bond, Afia Schwarzenegger was strictly prohibited from discussing the issue on any platform, with the warning that any violation would result in severe consequences. Nonetheless, Chairman Wontumi's legal team launched a fresh case against her, accusing her of contempt by disregarding the court's directives.

In their statements, the legal team requested the court to punish Afia Schwarzenegger for her alleged violation and disobedience of the court's judgment. However, due to Chairman Wontumi and his lawyers' absence in court, the case has now been dismissed.

In conclusion, Afia Schwarzenegger can celebrate a legal victory as the court dismisses Chairman Wontumi's latest case against her for contempt. This outcome is attributed to the absence of Chairman Wontumi and his legal counsel during the court proceedings. The ongoing feud between Afia Schwarzenegger and Chairman Wontumi seems to have taken another turn in favor of the media celebrity.
