I'm Not A Christian - Okyeame Kwame Reveals

Okyeame Kwame, the renowned Ghanaian rapper, shared that despite being raised in a Christian household with Catholic and Methodist parents, he doesn't consider himself a Christian. Instead, he identifies as an omnist, drawing faith and inspiration from all religions.

To clarify, an omnist is someone who believes in all faiths or creeds and acknowledges a single transcendent purpose or cause, according to the Oxford dictionary.

During an interview with Joy Entertainment's Kwame Dadzie, Okyeame Kwame revealed that although his upbringing heavily influenced his values, with his father being Catholic and his mother attending the Methodist Church, he has chosen not to adhere to a single religion.

While growing up, he participated in Christian practices such as catechism due to attending an Anglican school. However, as an adult, he doesn't believe he can fully identify as a Christian. Instead, he embraces the term "omnist."

The rapper, known for popular songs like 'Yeeko,' 'Faithful,' 'Small Small,' and 'Made in Ghana,' explained that he finds inspiration from different religions based on specific teachings and values. When it comes to appreciating nature, trees, and rivers, he looks to African traditions. His love for animals aligns with Buddhist principles, and he considers himself Christian when it comes to the teaching of 'loving your neighbor as yourself' from the Bible. Additionally, he respects God greatly and attributes all power to Him, which reflects his connection to Islam.

Okyeame Kwame emphasized that he doesn't want to confine himself to one religion, as he believes in tapping into the virtues found in various faiths.

To further explore different religious perspectives, the father of two had the opportunity to meet Sadhguru, the founder of the Insha Foundation, during his visit to India in January this year.
