Former President John Dramani Mahama has responded to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's assertion that he had defeated him twice in elections.

In response to Bawumia's statement, "I've beaten him twice," Mahama says, "Your face has never appeared on a ballot."

In response to Bawumia's statement, "I've beaten him twice," Mahama says, "Your face has never appeared on a ballot."

Mr. Mahama stated on the KSM programme that Dr. Bawumia's claim was false.

He asserts that he has defeated me in the past and knows how to vanquish me. I observed that he had vanquished me twice and was capable of doing so again. However, I have never confronted him and he has never been on a presidential ballot.

"How do you claim to have vanquished me? I have never run against you for president. I ran against and vanquished Nana Addo in 2012, but he went on to win in 2016 and 2020.

"Thus, despite the fact that Nana Addo and I competed, he triumphed twice to my one. It's just that he's not running again, but I'm confident that we would have tied if he had," emphasised the former president.

Dr. Bawumia urged delegates of the New Patriotic Party to select him as their candidate for the 2024 presidential election because he could easily defeat Mr. Mahama, the National Democratic Congress candidate. Mr. Mahama responded.

Dr. Bawumia is contending with nine other candidates for the NPP presidential nomination. A handful of party delegates will reduce the number to five at a special delegates conference scheduled for August 26, 2023.

On November 4, 2023, the party's primary convention will make its final selection between the five remaining candidates.
