Burning Issues: Hopeson Adorye Discredits Bawumia’s Role In Ghana’s Digitalisation Agenda

Hopeson Adorye, a prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) activist, has vehemently debunked Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's claim that he is the primary force behind Ghana's digitalisation agenda.

Mr. Adorye stated that the Communications Ministry, led by Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, deserves recognition for spearheading the country's efforts to digitalize.

In an interview on Adom FM's Burning Issues, hosted by Akua Boakyewaa Yiadom, Mr. Adorye stated, "Dr. Bawumia has no hand in the country's digitalisation; rather, it is the Communications Ministry that is steering the ship."

The ongoing digital transformation in Ghana has garnered widespread commendation for government policy, with Vice President Dr. Bawumia hailed as the driving force behind the entire initiative.

However, Mr. Adorye's claims have damaged the Bawumia Campaign, particularly since ownership of the digitalisation project has been a central campaign message for Team Bawumia, which supports the party's presidential candidate in the upcoming general election.

As Alan Kyerematen's aide, Mr. Adorye vehemently implored Ghanaians not to give Dr. Bawumia credit for ongoing digitalisation efforts, stating, "He simply does not deserve it!"

"If you go to help and commission a digital project, does that make you the program's leader?" Mr. Adorye inquired.

Since a substantive Minister is leading the digitalisation efforts to transform Ghana, neither the Vice President nor any other individual should take credit for driving the initiative, he emphasised.

Mr. Adorye added, "We must give Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and her team credit for their good work and refrain from praising Vice President Dr. Alhaji Bawumia for something he has not done."
